What's is a good way to increase your vocab?

I want to know a good way to increase my vocabulary. In my conversations I want to sound articulate and professional. I graduate high school, but never went to a university.All my friends talk with a lot of ignorant....I don't know, but it's rubbing of on me. Any suggestions before I turn in to a complete airhead?
